Dr. Rose ParkerRoseParker2

It Could Be Your Sister, Mother, or Brother

Synopsis:

In the course of a day people are living their lives not concerned about those that are in jail or incarcerated until it hits home.

Whether you are the accused, or truly a victim, many people don’t realize it could happen to them. This conversation is to bridge the communication gap with information and education.

Our Speaker:

Dr. Rose Parker is an Advocate, an Author, a Co-Publisher, and a Missionary Minister.

In 1986, having suffered years of abuse, Rose Parker was sentenced to ‘27 years to life’ in prison for shooting her abusive ex-boyfriend in Ontario, California. Gov. Gray Davis approved Parker’s parole in 2000 and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger pardoned her in 2010.  After her release, she received several honorary degrees, became a minister of the gospel and founded Saving Our Women International Outreach to help domestic abuse survivors.

Dr. Rose uses her experience and her platforms to educate, motivate, and speak out against abuse.  Saving Our Women International focuses on Domestic Violence Awareness, Education, Support Services, Advocacy, and Policy Reform. She has written a book about her experience, Beat Up, Beat Down, and Still Standing: The Rose Parker Story and is the publisher of Saving Our Women Magazine.

With stories, testimonies, a wealth of experience and opportunities, Dr. Rose packages her stories, offers intervention, and prevention of abuse.  She also has opened an avenue for others to share their stories, strength, and hope. As a Christian minister, motivational and inspirational speaker, educator, and more, Dr. Rose uses her gifts and talents in various settings to share the healing her faith has brought her and can bring to others, too.
